We’re an independent, family-run automotive repair workshop near St Austell in mid-Cornwall – with a proud heritage and a strong focus on quality and customer care.
1977
Keith (who KJ Rule are named after) started the business from his home garage
1984
The business grew into a bigger workspace in Foxhole, with a capacity for four cars
1989
We took on our first permanent staff members
1992
We joined the local apprenticeship scheme and took on our first trainee technicians
2002
Moved to larger current premises in Nanpean, a village near St Austell
2003
The KJ Rule team grows to eleven staff members
2005
We won our first ‘Small body shop of the year’ award
2006
KJ Rule was approved for our first brand partnership with Mercedes Benz
2008
Achieved the BS 10125 Kitemark for Vehicle Damage Repair for the first time.
2013
A record fourth win for small bodyshop of the year award
2013
Won Gold at the Cornwall Business Awards for Best Family Business and at the Bodyshop Awards
2019
Awarded the Volvo Paint & Body High Achiever Award as dealer partner for Vertu Volvo Truro
2020
Became a carbon neutral site for the first time, marking a major step forward in our commitment to environmental responsibility
2021
Became an approved repairer partner for Stellantis, strengthening our manufacturer partnerships
2022
Completed a full rebuild of our customer reception and office block, transforming the space for an improved customer experience

Won the Volvo Paint & Body Award for the second time, recognising our continued commitment to quality

Welcomed our first manufacturer-specific apprentice, Dylan, in partnership with the Volkswagen Group Paint & Body Apprenticeship scheme

Keith retired and handed the running of the business to his son and daughter
